GBI hands DHX alum distribution role
US children’s content firm Genius Brands International (GBI) has appointed a former DHX Media territory manager as its director of distribution.
Mark Shoeman will report to Deb Pierson, senior VP, global content distribution and marketing at LA-based GBI and president of Kid Genius Cartoon Channel.
He will handle global sales of GBI’s library of children’s programming as well as content acquisitions and distribution for the Kid Genius Cartoon Channel and Baby Genius Channel online.
Shoeman left DHX last year having joined the company as territory manager for the US in 2012 following its takeover of Cookie Jar Entertainment, formerly DIC Entertainment.
He began his career in 2002 at DIC, which was formed by GBI’s chairman and CEO Andy Heyward.
GBI’s slate includes Rainbow Rangers, Llama Llama, SpacePOP, Baby Genius, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab and Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club.
The firm last year reshuffled its distribution team by promoting Pierson to a role overseeing sales for GBI’s catalogue of animation properties.
