Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab to experiment on stage
Genius Brands International has licensed the rights to its new science-themed animated series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab to Mills Entertainment, which will create and produce a live show based on the property.
The touring show will feature an array of original music created, written and produced by renowned music industry producer Ron Fair and his wife Stefanie Fair. It will also showcase the series’ characters, STEM-curriculum and demonstrate how much fun science can be.
The Brad Simon Organization is handling all tour booking, and the show is expected to run in major American cities in 2017.
In other news, GBI is launching a toy line from Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab master toy partner Wicked Cool Toys this fall, as well as mobile apps, games, activity kits, apparel, publishing and an in-school curriculum program next year.
GBI also recently sold US$4.3 million in stock to raise cash for working capital purposes such as brand marketing, licensing expansion and the acquisition and development of new properties.
The story follows 12-year-old science prodigy Angie (and her science club) who accidentally finds Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab, including two of his last inventions—a hologram that brings him to life and a VR machine that lets them go anywhere.
GBI created and produced the 26 x half-hour series in association with Georgia Public Broadcasting. It is distributed by American Public Television.
