Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab gets the app treatment
Genius Brands International has joined forces with interactive media publisher FatRedCouch to produce apps for its animated series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab.
Coinciding with the show’s debut on US public television stations later this year, the pair will release a master app that takes kids deeper into the Secret Lab, a digital world featuring activities, games and animation from the show.
The app will be available initially on iOS and Android platforms, through Apple, Google, Amazon and Barnes & Noble (for Nook).
Going forward, GBI and FatRedCouch plan to roll out additional apps based on the comedy-adventure series, giving kids a way to interact with the show on a variety of devices.
The female-led series follows 12-year-old prodigy Angie and her young science club as they accidentally discover a dream lab tricked out with gadgets. These include two of Edison’s last inventions—a hologram that brings Edison himself “to life” and a virtual reality machine that lets them go anywhere.
Produced in association with Georgia Public Broadcasting, each of the 26 half-hour eps show the fun of exploring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects.
American Public Television (APT) distributes the series to US public television stations.
